As a parent or guardian involved in USCAA sports, I understand and agree to adhere to the following code of conduct:
- On Field Expectations
- I will treat all players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect, courtesy, and consideration.
- I will refrain from engaging in any form of verbal or physical abuse, including but not limited to profanity, harassment, or threatening behavior.
- I will respect the facilities and equipment used by the organization, reporting any damage or issues promptly.
- I will remain on the designated spectator areas and refrain from entering the playing area without permission.
- I will refrain from coaching players during games and practices unless I am an official coach of the team.
- Positive Support
- I will be a positive role model for my child and encourage them to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.
- I will demonstrate positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game, practice or team event.
- I will reinforce with my child that doing their best is more important than the outcome of the game.
- Safety
- I will inform coaches and/or administrators of any disabilities or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or others.
- I will discourage any behaviors that endanger the health and wellbeing of any athlete.
- I will demand an environment that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.
- Fair Play
- I will encourage fair play and uphold the principles of fair competition, ensuring that winning is not the sole focus.
- I will remember that the objective of youth sports is to have fun and develop.
- I will encourage my player to stay within the rules and resolve conflicts without violence or hostility.
- Communication
- I will communicate with coaches in a respectful and constructive manner, addressing concerns through appropriate channels rather than in a confrontational manner during games or practices.
- I will abide by the "24-Hour Rule" which simply states that coaches will not discuss a game/practice or situation in a game/practice until at least 24 hours after the fact. This ensures all parties have a cooling-off period and the players’ enjoyment of a game won't be marred by an ill-timed confrontation.
- I will ensure that my child arrives at practices and games on time and will notify the coach in advance if my child cannot attend.
By following this code of conduct, I acknowledge my role in creating a positive and supportive environment for all participants in USCAA programs.
I understand and accept that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action that could include, but is not limited to, the following:
- A verbal warning by official, head coach, and/or head of league organization
- Game suspension with written documentation of incident kept on file
- Game forfeit through the official or coach
- Parental suspension from participation in or attendance of programs
