USCAA Wrestling is a winter program for boys in 1st through 6th grades. The emphasis of wrestling is on learning the basic moves of the sport, physical fitness and competitive matches. Not all participants are ready to compete in matches, so the program usually has several children who come to the practices and learn, but do not begin competing until they feel more comfortable doing so. Registration is in the Fall. Practices start in November, matches begin in December, and the season ends in early March.
There is no formal “travel” wrestling” program but there is plenty of opportunities for more competitive wrestlers to test themselves against wrestlers from other townships. Our team matches are usually with programs from other townships within a 30-minute drive. Separately, there are wrestling tournaments all over Western Pennsylvania in which team members can compete on practically every weekend throughout the season. There are also post-season Junior Olympic qualifying tournaments in which team members compete.
