USCAA Girls Basketball is a winter program for girls in 3rd through 8th grades.  The recreation portion of the program is administered by the USC Recreation Department.  The emphasis of recreation basketball is on fun and development.  Registration is in the Fall.  Practices and games start in November and finish by early February.  All girls are placed on teams.  Each participant receives a t-shirt.
 
The travel portion of the program provides players who have advanced skills and abilities the opportunity to participate in a competitive environment.  Players will be evaluated at tryout sessions and rosters are limited.  Some players may not be placed on a team.  Travel basketball starts in 4th grade and goes through 8th grade.  On a year-to-year basis, a second team may be added in a single or combined grade.  Travel basketball teams participate in a league and in tournaments.  The travel basketball season starts in November and runs through March.  To qualify for travel basketball, a player must also register and participate in recreation basketball.

There will be two open tryouts for the fourth grade USC girls travel basketball teams. Travel basketball teams participate in competitive games against teams from other communities. All girls registered in the recreational basketball program are eligible to tryout. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend both tryout sessions.

Saturday, November 14, 2009 - 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Fort Couch Gym

Monday, November 16, 2009 - 6:00 to 7:15 pm Fort Couch Gym

We plan to form two teams this year, with eight players on each team. This format enables us to provide the girls with considerable playing time. The limited rosters also require each player to make a commitment to attend practices and games.

There will be a meeting for parents at the beginning of the first tryout session. Program registration forms will be distributed at this time. We will also provide an overview of the program and review the requirements for participation.
